Murugesh (Murali) also known as Murugan, a musician, comes with his troupe in a village. The village belle Chellakili (Sivaranjani) waits for her lover Murugan who was missing while her cousin Duraipandi (G. M. Sundar), a brute, wants to marry her. Murugesh finally reveals that he is her long-lost lover Murugan and also discloses the reason behind his missing. In the past, Chellakili's father (Vijayakumar) wanted to marry his daughter with the family friend and orphan Murugan. Whereas Yasodai (C. R. Saraswathi), Chellakili's aunt, wanted to marry Chellakili with Duraipandi. She managed to beat Murugan and she expelled him from the village. Later, Murugan became a singer in a music band but he cannot forget Chellakili. Duraipandi and Yasodai are now aware of Murugan's return. They then reveal Chellakili's love affair to her father without disclosing Murugesh's real identity. Her family then meet the Sadha Swamy who causes Chellakili to forget her love. Krish (Ram) is a happy-go-lucky guy who lives with his brother (Naresh) and sister-in-law (Jhansi). He was in love with a girl named Manju (Sheela), who happens to be the daughter of Simhachalam (Mukesh Rishi). Krish's only intention is to become rich by marrying her, and he does not have any feelings whatsoever towards her. He weaves a love story between him and a girl called Meenakshi aka Meenu (Hansika Motwani) to make Manju fall for him. He also meets Meenu, starts to like her for real, and falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Simhachalam and Shinde (Pradeep Rawat) run against each other in a presidential election in Delhi. Shinde is a man of misdeeds and tries to find faults in Simhachalam's personal life so that he can expose him in front of the high command of the party so that his route will be clear to get the party ticket. Shinde comes to learn that Simhachalam has another wife (Seetha) and a daughter who live in Hyderabad. He sends his men to find them. Unfortunately, Simhachalam fixes Manju and Krish's marriage, but Krish loves Meenu. Manju discovers it and points a gun on Meenu, but she leaves Krish to her and reveals that Meenu is the unofficial daughter of Simhachalam and sister of Manju . Simhachalam, Krish, and Shinde arrive. Sivaji is a highly respectable man in his village. He works tirelessly for the welfare of his society and hardly spends time with his wife Padmini. Padmini has no child after many years of marriage. Jaishankar is Sivaji's younger brother and is in love with Vanisri, daughter of Nambiar who is the owner of a grocery store. Nambiar adulterates almost all his products in his shop and sells them at a highly priced rate. People got no choice but to buy stuff for their daily life as this is the only grocery shop in the entire village. Sivaji puts a full stop to this by inaugurating a grocery shop owned by the village cooperative society, after which Nambiar begins to incur losses as people no longer buy from his shop. After knowing that his daughter is in love with Sivaji brother, Nambiar plans to make use of this to separate the brothers. Sivaji is initially reluctant to this marriage, but agrees eventually after talkin g to Vanisri and learning about her good character. Post their marriage, Padmini and Vanisri lead the family like un-biological sisters. Vanisri pays no heed to her parents whom wanted a separate share for Jaishankar and herself. Their motive goes in vain. Both Padmini and Vanisri get conceived at the same time and during the child birth, ironically Vanisri baby is born dead. Unknown to Vanisri, Padmini gives her son to her. Nambiar persuade Jaishankar to ask for his family share and Sivaji is shocked to hear this. Sivaji, in an emotional climax gives his brother 2 choices, either to chose him or his entire family wealth in a subtle way.
