"Balachandran (Mammootty) had resorted to his work after being unable to cope up with the death of his wife, Bhama (Shobhana). During the process, he unintentionally neglects his only son, Appu (Badusha). When Appu returns home from his boarding school during vacation, Balachandran promises him a lot many things, but is unable to fulfill any of them as he is caught up with work. Meanwhile, Appu befriends his carer Meenakshi (Seena Dadi), much to the annoyance of Balachandran. Meenakshi's half-brother Rudran, after realizing that his sister stays with Balachandran (who fired him for the murder of a colleague), forcefully takes her home. Appu becomes disappointed and turn rebellious, which culminates in Balachandran hitting him. He now realize that Bhama's death was tough on his son too. He apologize and promises to bring back Meenakshi. At Meenakshi's house, her brother objects to Balachandran's request of taking her back and he see the way she is mistreated by her brother, leading to a fight between them where Appu gets caught up. The attempt fails and they retreat to their summer house, deciding to let go of the thoughts of Meenakshi. Appu now gets to spend more time with his father as he had always hoped, although he miss Meenakshi. Balachandran notices that Appu's nose is lightly bleeding and take him to his close friend, Dr. Gopan (Suresh Gopi). Gopan find a serious internal haemorrhage in Appu's head, the cause of which remains a mystery. He informs that an urgent surgery is their only hope and his Professor, a famous neurosurgeon had been called from Mumbai for the surgery. The unresolved cause of the bleeding puzzle the doctors. Balachandran soon recollects the fight and recall Rudran being the one responsible for Appu's condition. Enraged by the thought, he rush to seek revenge, but is stopped by Gopan by shouting that if he really loves his son, stay with him till the operation, take care of him and pray for him. The depth of his ignorance to his son, now becomes even more clear to him. Realizing that this was probably the only time left with his son, he take him out as he had promised, to fulfill Appu's wish, on the eve of the scheduled operation. He even prays hoping that God would have pity upon him. Their journey takes them to Meenakshi's house, who is to be married against her wishes. Another fight happens between the two and he manage to free Meenakshi from her abusive brother. He take her with them for one final trip where Appu (moderately under sedation) hallucinates his mother approaching him to take him to the other side. However, when Bhama notices Balachandran and Meenakshi together, she realizes that it is their chance to start a new family and walks away, implying the likelihood of Appu's survival." more»

"Madhavan, a.k.a. M.A Dhavan (Sreenivasan), who has a rather eccentric personality, is back in Kerala after completing his business studies in USA. His schoolmate Shambhu (Mohanlal) is now working as a driver at his house, whom the now vain and snobbish Madhavan treats with disdain. Madhavan's parents want him to get married to Shobha (Lizy), the only daughter of Sardar Krishna Kurup (Jagathy Sreekumar), a rich and aristocratic businessman. Madhavan, who wants to observe his fianc e from a distance, decides to go to her house disguised as the driver and makes his driver Shambhu act as Madhavan. Just minutes after they set out from he house, his parents telephone Krishna Kurupp about their son's scheme. Various mishaps on way end up with Madhavan discarding his plan and deciding to visit as himself. Unaware of the change in plan, Sardar Krishna Kurup and wife have the driver Shambhu mistaken for the prospective groom and Madhavan as the driver. The prospective in-laws dote over Shambu, ignoring Madhavan, who is unaware of the impression that Kurup and wife are under. The situation gets tougher for Madhavan, due to his innate eccentric behavior towards the Kurup family. In the meantime Shobha, who also mistakes Shambhu as the fiance, falls in love with him. At the same time, Sardar Koma Kurup (Kuthiravattam Pappu), cousin to Sardar Krishna Kurup, is in constant fight with Krishna Kurup for past long years. Both are trying to capture the power at the Nethaji Club, a reputed social club, for personal reasons. Damodaran, a.k.a. Damu, (Maniyanpilla Raju) impersonates himself as a lawyer and enters the house of Koma Kurup and wins his trust. But the real intention of Damu is to kill Koma Kuruppu and marry his daughter Aruna (Priya), so that he could grab the whole property. But one after another, the attempts of Damu to kill Koma Kurup fails, with each time, Damu getting himself nearly killed in the process. It was then, Shivan (Mukesh), a friend to both Damu and Shambhu, arrives at the house of Koma Kurup, apparently under the guise of Damu's imaginary brother who is apparently a heart patient. He instantly succeeds in winning the heart of Aruna, destroying the plans of Damu. Thus the two love stories, one between Shambhu and Shobha and the other between Shivan and Aruna, blooms side by side. This chain of events pit Shambhu and Shivan against Madhavan and Damu respectively. Unable to bear Shambhu's progress, Madhavan hires Kadathanatt Pappan Gurukkal (Cochin Haneefa), a known goon to beat up Shambhu, but instead, the goons themselves get beaten up by the adept Shambhu. This incident makes Shambhu to go all out against Madhavan and force Krishna Kurup to conduct the marriage within three days. But, everything turns more messy as the parents of Madhavan makes a surprise visit at the house of Sardar Krishna Kurup. They find the foul play of Shambhu, and Krishna Kurup, who realizes the mistake decides to get his daughter married to Madhavan. Shobha, who by this time is in love with Shambhu is adamant that she won't marry Madhavan. The marriage venue and date is fixed. At the same time Sardar Koma Kurup also finds out that his daughter is in love with Shivan, who is rather an adamant sickly fellow, falls for Damu's words and drive Shivan out. At the marriage venue both Shambhu and Shivan are denied entry. They calls up police by informing that there is gold hidden by Krishna Kurup at the marriage hall. The Police enters the venue and then happens a long fight packed with several comic incidents. In the end, with the help of police inspector (Jagadish), Shambhu marries Shobha and Shivan marries Aruna. Yogendra (Mohan Babu) is the son of Panduranga Rao (Vijayakumar), a High Court judge who got first rank in civil services examinations. Dunnapothula Janardhan Rao (Narra Venkateswara Rao), a politician, falsely implicates Yogi in a murder case to take revenge on Panduranga, who had earlier given a jail sentence to him in a corruption case. Panduranga gives the judgment to his Yogi by jailing him for six years. After six years, Janardhan dies on the day Yogi is released from jail. Dunnapothula Dharma Rao (Mukesh Rishi), Janardhan's son, visits the shores of Godavari River to leave the ashes. Yogi foils the rites by resisting, then Dharma challenges Yogi that he is going to mix his father's ashes in the Godavari before Yogi mixes the ashes of his father, who is still alive, one day. Meanwhile, Yogi falls in love with a beautiful girl Anuradha (Preeti Jhangiani), the strong-willed and independent-minded daughter of Kasi Visweswara Rao (Raghunatha Reddy), Dharma's henchman. Suddenly, there is an appearance of Thulasi (Seema), who claims to be Panduranga's daughter. Panduranga refuses the claim and banishes her. Forced by circumstances and at the instigation and help of Dharma, she comes out open with the parentage claim. Yogi thrashes the protesters, but upon knowing the truth from his uncle Gnaneswara Rao (Kota Srinivasa Rao), he accepts the task of her protection in the capacity as an elder brother. Yogi decides to marry Thulasi to his good friend (Brahmaji), and he also prods his father to acknowledge the parentage of Thulasi. Panduranga confesses to Thulasi. The next morning when Yogi returns home, Thulasi is found dead. Panduranga is accused of murdering her. However, the whole act was planned by Dharma. After killing Thulasi, he forced Satya Murthy (Suthi Velu), Panduranga's servant, to testify against Panduranga in court. In court, Jagan (Nagarjuna Akkineni), a close friend of Yogi and famous leading criminal lawyer, appears as the defense council by canceling his marriage with his girlfriend (Soundarya) and wins the case to lay bare the murder plot and hidden intentions of the baddies. Finally, Panduranga is judged innocent of the crime. After that, Yogi returns to his father, who shows remorse for all his actions, including not believing in his son's innocence, and he dies at his feet. At Panduranga s funeral, Dharma arrives to poke fun at Yogi and carry out the postponed last rituals of his own father.
