Adi (Mukesh Bharti), a creative painter is ambitious and when he meets Simran (Manju Bharti), a lady of his dreams, he immediately decides to get married to her. However, amidst this fairy tale wedding, there comes a twist when Adi, in a sudden turn of events falls in love with Mehek (Preeti Jhangiani). Though Adi is orphaned, he has a grandmother with whom he shares a friendly rapport. During the preparations of his wedding with Simran, Adi confesses about his love for Mehek to his grandmother. Though she is aware of his feelings, the grandmother (Farida Jalal) isn't very happy with this decision and decides to investigate it. Raja (Daebu Banerji) an orphan and Kajol (Nivedita Tiwari) from a rich family background are students at Dudley College in Mumbai. Incidentally, Raja and Kajol's numbers are paired for the performance but Kajol hesitates. Raja decides not to participate after Kajol's hesitation, but Kajol's sophisticated father, Ranveer Singh (Shaheed Khan), who also participated during his college days is hyped up about Kajol winning the traditional college gold medal. Raja hadn't been to college for days, leaving very little time for preparation. In the film, Vanisri plays the dual role of Banu and Chandra, cousin sisters who look alike. They switch places for a few days to escape from each of their family problems. How their lives change after the switch forms the rest of the story. One of the identical cousins, Chandra, is dark and old-fashioned, whereas the other, Banu, is modern and fair, who takes life easy and meets the poor but well-educated young man (Muthuraman) who falls in love, but she does not respond at first, and disappointed he commits suicide. She realises her folly later, and in the final climax, she too commits suicide. The dark girl, Chandra, is ill-treated by her stepmother (Sundari Bai), and her loving father (Subbaiah) loses money in business and also his job, and after getting his job back thanks to his daughter, he dies later of heart failure, leaving the daughter orphaned. Soon, the twin cousins switch identities, which is the main crux of the story, and how the problems are solved forms the second half of the film, with a somewhat predictable climax. more»
