iva (Ramki) is an honest police officer who was brought up by the judge Sathyamoorthy (Vijayakumar) when his mother died. Sathyamoorthy has two sons : Aravind (S. N. Vasanth) and Raja (Raja Raveendar). The influential smuggler Mudaliar often clashes with Siva and Sathyamoorthy. Siva and the jolly college student Priya fall in love with each other, later they get married with Sathyamoorthy's blessing. One day, Raja (Raja Raveendar) rapes Mudaliar's daughter. The next day, Raja is found dead and Siva conducts the investigation. Ramesh admits to his father Sathyamoorthy that he killed his younger Raja. Sathyamoorthy decides to protect Ramesh at all costs while Siva wants to send Ramesh to jail. What transpires later forms the crux of the story. more»

Vijay is the managing director of a large shipping corporation. But later Raghuvaran and Rambha travel to India to mend fences. Raghuvaran learns that Bhanupriya had been dumped by Ravi for a better life and Vijay is just waiting for an opportunity to kill the man who destroyed his sister's life. He devises ways of preventing Ravi from attending the marriage but later he tells Bhanupriya the truth. Vijay overhears this and is angered, but Raghuvaran solves all the problems by deciding to marry Bhanupriya. Bhanupriya agrees for this too, making everyone happy. Madhavan (Mammootty), a simple village man who in childhood got bitten by the film bug, threw up his studies and finally ends up as 'Operator' Madhavan, who tours the countryside with his 16 mm projector and shows films at temple festivals and other public functions. Madhavan comes across a six-year-old boy (Yash) who is displaced from his native Gujarat and separated from his family after the devastating earthquake. This boy was taken into a gang of beggars from where he manages to escape. Madhavan takes the boy home and cares for him, just like a son. He and his Family takes a fondness for the boy, later finding out that legally he cannot adopt the boy. The boy is taken away from Madhavan to a juvenile home and allegations of ill treatment is charged on Madhavan, but soon dismissed. The issue gets media coverage. Madhavan then goes to Gujarat with the boy in hopes of finding his family or adopting him. At the disaster camp in Gujarat Madhavan understands that the boys relatives are all most probably dead but due to legal hurdles, the boy must stay on in the hope that his real parents might be traced.
