Aashi's (Aishwarya Rai) marriage has been arranged with a rich garment chain owner. However, she is not prepared to plunge into an arranged marriage unless she checks out the man herself! So she heads to Switzerland where she meets another man, Bobby Oberoi (Bobby Deol), who claims to be her husband-to-be and falls in love with him. Realising the seriousness of the situation, Bobby decides to come clean. He tells her the truth. Aashi feels betrayed and tells him to stay away from her. Aashi soon understands her love for Bobby and they reunite. They decide to get married on returning to India. Brahmhdutt (Dilip Kumar), Premchand (Shafi Inamdar) and Mushtaq Ali Khan (Anupam Kher) have been the closest of friends. Against his wishes, Brahmhdutt's daughter Sonu marries a poor man Indrajeet Sabharwal, who is already married to Radhika and has a son Vijay, from the latter. Vijay takes off from home and grows up to be a dreaded Don in the city (Govinda). Indrajeet is given the post of a manager in a steel factory owned by Brahmhdutt and Premchand.
