Brahmhdutt (Dilip Kumar), Premchand (Shafi Inamdar) and Mushtaq Ali Khan (Anupam Kher) have been the closest of friends. Against his wishes, Brahmhdutt's daughter Sonu marries a poor man Indrajeet Sabharwal, who is already married to Radhika and has a son Vijay, from the latter. Vijay takes off from home and grows up to be a dreaded Don in the city (Govinda). Indrajeet is given the post of a manager in a steel factory owned by Brahmhdutt and Premchand. Indrajeet first exterminates Premchand and indicts Brahmhdutt for the murder. Brahmhdutt is packed off to prison.
